Gene is sixteen years old and is a student at Devon. He is best friends with Phineas (Finny), or at least Finny thinks so.
His is academically gifted, thoughtful and intelligent with a competitive nature -- motivated and loyal to his friend,
His weaknesses are that he is unconfident of who he is, is overpowered by jealousy, paranoid, and dishonest about what really happened to Finny.
